DMI's Doug Plumeri receives Master Champion Award

Site Services, Inc. has awarded Doug Plumeri, DMI's National Director of Sales, with the 2006 Master Champion Award.
The Master Champion Award is presented annually by Site Services, Inc., a full service site selection company, and is awarded to a meeting supplier for outstanding partnership.
Plumeri was presented the award by Site Services' President, Laurie Mirman Rogers at their 18th Annual Forum this past week in Irvine, CA.
Plumeri was described as constant, consistent, accurate and masterful, and was praised for his assertive nature, inquisitive mind and forthright communication skills.

DMI Attends CBI's 2nd Annual
Pharmaceutical Tradeshow

DMI and participating hotels attended the 2nd Annual Pharmaceutical Tradeshow in Philadelphia, PA March 19-21, 2006. With over 800 attendees, the show has doubled in size in just one year, and welcomed many top pharmaceutical and medical education companies nationwide. While in Philadelphia for the show, DMI and partners hosted a client outing, inviting 20 pharmaceutical clients to see the Billy Joel concert! DMI Holiday Party rocked at Y Bar!

The 5th Annual DMI Holiday Client Party was yet another successful partner event. The themed evening "Jingle, Jingle Come to Mingle" started off at the trendy  Downtown Chicago Lounge Y Bar. Over 18 DMI Partner Hotels & Resorts were represented that evening. DMI's local DMC, Total Event Resources, created a fun and relaxed networking opportunity for all the attendees. Clients were entertained by local Trio BLEND.
Even Santa took some time out from preparing for his big day and stopped in to give away some great door prizes.

DMI Opening New Regional Office Locations

DMI Hotels and DMCs is pleased to announce the opening of two new regional office locations in the Midwest and Northwest United States.
Ruth Fitzgerald, CHME, a veteran of hotel sales and Regional Director with DMI for five years, will be opening the West coast office based out of Spokane, WA. Kate Nagle, Sales and Event Manager with DMI, will open an Ohio office based out of Cincinnati.
The addition of these two offices allows DMI to have a presence in two major markets where many Fortune 500 companies are based. As a result, DMI will have greater account penetration deeper into the Midwest, while both maintaining and identifying new accounts in the West.

MPI's 2004-2005 Tomorrow's Leaders Award

MIAMI - 10 July 2005 - Meeting Professionals International (MPI) announces
the recipients of its 2005 Meeting Professional Awards, sponsored by Hilton
Hotels, recognizing association members who are models of professional
excellence, significant contributors to the meetings industry, and active
within MPI and civic organizations.
Glenn Reighart, CAE, CMM, CMP, was named International Planner of the Year,
and Coleman, CMM, received International Supplier of the Year honors. Chad
Chappell, CMP, received the Marion N. Kershner Memorial Chapter Leader award
and Shannon Derrick and Ruth Fitzgerald have been named recipients of the
Tomorrow's Leaders award.
Ruth Fitzgerald, regional director of sales with DMI Hotels and member of
the Tampa Bay Area Chapter, is the first of two recipients of the 2004-2005
Tomorrow's Leaders Award. The 2004-2005 president of the Tampa Bay Area
Chapter, Fitzgerald brought a high level of leadership coupled with
financial success to the chapter. During her term, many programs were
developed to benefit and grow the chapter from a medium to large sized
chapter while maintaining a 78 percent retention in membership. She has also
served as the chapter's director of membership and director of
communications. A frequent contributor to a wide array of industry
publications, Fitzgerald is an in-demand speaker and received the Tampa Bay
Area Chapter's Rising Star and President's Awards, as well as the Florida
Society of Association Executives Associate Member of the Year award.

4th Annual DMI Holiday Party - A Grand Time!

It was another great time at the 4th Annual DMI Holiday Party this past December 13th, 2004. The location was one of Chicago's happening hot spots - the Y Bar - in downtown Chicago. This great event, which always happens the night before Holiday Showcase was well attended and had some of DMI's, and the industry's, best hotel, resort & DMC partners.
One result of DMI's Holiday activities is the silent auctions that are held for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. This year, DMI and the various DMI events provided over $5,000 to make a child's wish come true!
The event has gotten so popular that even good Old Saint Nick (aka Santa Clause) took time out of his busy schedule and stopped in for some of the Holiday Cheer.
If you didn't make it this year, plan to be there next year!!!

DMI Wins Zenith Award

The Tallahassee Society of Association Executives (TSAE) has awarded DMI with the 2003 Zenith Award in the area of Excellence in Supplier Marketing.
The Zenith Awards were created by TSAE as an exceptional opportunity for Florida based associations and any association-service providers to gain valuable recognition for their organizations, staff and members. The category of Best Supplier Marketing consisted of entries including but not limited to brochures, advertisements, fliers, and one-time special publications. DMI, amongst 30 other total applicants, submitted entries for the coveted Zenith Award. Entries were judged by a panel of individuals who have expertise in communications, publications, printing and marketing, and were evaluated based on their originality and creativity, content and readability, and ease of use. Judges also considered whether or not the various projects achieved their mission, purpose and/or intend objectives.
The DMI submission, "Good Hotels are Easy to Find--You just need to know Who to Call" was a 4-color cooperative display ad featuring DMI plus five partner hotels. The ad originally ran in the 2003 Chicago Forum Membership Directory.

DMI Moves to New Headquarters

In case you hadn't noticed the address change, DMI moved into a new corporate headquarter building in December of 2003. The new office space offers room to grow and provides a generally much improved work environment - both asthetically and technically.
Although it has been updated significantly, the building has historic significance in the city of Naperville as it was part of the original Joe Naper Settlement CIRCA 1843!
